Nick Aldis praises Liv Morgan.
As 2024 begins to wind down, pundits are beginning to look back on this year in professional wrestling. For WWE SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis, one name sticks out as the Most Valuable Player of WWE this year — that being WWE Women’s World Champion Liv Morgan.
“[Li Morgan] is the MVP of 2024,” Aldis told Insight With Chris Van Vliet. “That character, and I’ve told her a couple of times, ‘You are crushing it. You have found exactly like what your perfect heel [is],’ because a good heel, you have to have some self-awareness. You have to know what impression you give off to people when you walk in the room. Liv Morgan is a stunningly good-looking girl. That can work against you. And she finally, I think, realized ‘I can use that.'”
Hall of Fame Parallels
According to Aldis, Morgan’s recent heel work has been so good, that it’s reminiscent of a previous run from WWE Hall of Famer Shawn Michaels.
“I remember I gave her a piece of advice, and she doesn’t need it, but I offer it anyway,” Aldis said. “I was like your heat right now reminds me of Shawn [Michaels] in ’97. Shawn had that swagger because Shawn was so good that you couldn’t be like, ‘You suck.’ Like no, he did not suck. He was so demonstrably the best performer, by such a long way, even in 97.”
“… Shawn at that time, was so on his game. He was so on it, and you couldn’t take it away. He was so good in the ring. Then he started using that and being like, ‘What are you going to do about it?’ And he was good looking. He’s calling out like ‘Your girl would leave you for me.’ That’s heat. And Liv has that same thing where it’s like we’ve got a lot more women in the audience these days. So now they’re like, ‘Ah, she is really good looking.’ It’s totally believable that she would steal someone’s boyfriend.”
Currently, Morgan reigns as the WWE Women’s World Champion, while also continuing her romance storyline with Dominik Mysterio, whom she scooped away from Rhea Ripley. Together, Morgan and Mysterio reside as members of the new Judgment Day, alongside the likes of Raquel Rodriguez, Finn Balor, JD McDonagh, and Carlito.
