Nicolò Fagioli (23 years old) has been out of work since October and the revelations about his sports betting. The Juventus Turin midfielder was sanctioned and must now serve a seven-month suspension. In TMW, the young Italian returned to his addiction to games. An addiction that came very early for him: “I started at 16, perhaps out of loneliness. (…) At first it was like a game, then it slowly became an illness, I started straight away with sports betting when I played for Juve in the youth academy. Before I lost control, I really loved playing, I was craving dopamine without knowing it. Then I realized it was an illness, but it took me too long to find help. (…) I was always nervous, my only outlet was the game because I trained poorly and that made me a footballer who didn’t give 100% on the pitch. »

“The comrades and the club helped me a lot by supporting me. After the story came out, I was more focused on not letting other things about me come out in the papers, and then after the first couple of weeks, I started thinking about the team again and it t was difficult not being able to participate in away matches and meetings. At first I felt angry and ashamed. (…) Now I really want to get back on the field, I can’t wait. I dream of the European Cup. » he continued.
