Nigeria may have to deal without Victor Osimhen for the next match against South Africa in the CAN semi-finals.

Nigeria is preparing to face South Africa in the semi-finals of CAN 2023. But its star Victor Osimhen risks missing due to an abdominal injury contracted during the match against Angola (1-0) in the quarter-finals.

His club, SCC Naples, communicated on the state of health of its striker. “The team doctors confirmed that he had been placed under close surveillance and that a member of the medical team had remained in Abidjan with him,” said the Partenopei.

The 2023 African Ballon d’Or did not take part in the Nigerian team’s final training sessions or the trip to Bouaké, preferring to stay in Abidjan to receive treatment.

Although his absence for the clash against Bafana Bafana has not yet been confirmed by coach José Peseiro, the three-time African champions (1980, 1994, 2013) could be deprived of their best offensive asset for this crucial meeting.
