Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal
Former Governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Tambuwal, has called on leaders across the country to unite and rescue the nation from brink of collapse.
Tambuwal, representing Sokoto South Senatorial District in the Senate, made this call while speaking at the end of the Sokoto Peoples Democratic Party congress, on Saturday evening.
According to Tambuwal, Nigeria needed to be rescued from those he said were bent on running down the country through harsh economic policies, which he posited, has subjected citizens to excruciating poverty.
“Nigeria is on the brink; our country is in the Intensive Care Unit, as we all know what is happening in the country.
“The level of insecurity in this country is alarming; the level of poverty is disgusting and the level of economic malaise in Nigeria is very worrisome.
“All of us, as leaders of this country, must come together, work together, especially those who are not part and parcel of what is happening today in terms of governance, in terms of running this country.
“We must work together and make sure that through democratic process, we rescue this country in 2027.
“All of us that are not happy with what is happening in the country, we must come together, work together so that our country can be reclaimed on the path of unity, progress and development,” he added.
Meanwhile, despite criticisms of President Bola Tinubu’s reform policies by the opposition, a legislative aide to the Deputy Senate President, Alhaji Ado Garba, has expressed optimism that Tinubu will win the 2027 presidential election by a landslide.
Garba, who spokes to newsmen in Kano on Sunday, said he was confident that the people of Kano State would vote massively for the President.
“It is because of the goodwill of the Deputy President of the Senate,Barau Jibrin, which the people of the state have been enjoying,” he said.
Such goodwil, he said, included the Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau Jibrin’s women and youths empowerment programmes, scholarship schemes, desilting of dams, provision offFederal and feeder roads and irrigation schemes in the Kano North Senatorial Distric, which he represents in the National Assembly.
“All these programmes have impacted positively on the lives of the people of Kano North in particular, and the people of Kano State in general.
“Following Senator Barau’s initiatives and development programmes coupled with President Tinubu’s realistic and patriotic reform policies will induce the people of the state to vote for President Tinubu en masse in 2024,” Garba said.
