Nigeria:  Overnight Affair Turns Deadly: Man Stabbed by Girlfriend in Lekki Apartment

On October 7, 2024, a tragic incident unfolded in Lagos, Nigeria, resulting in the death of a 48-year-old man, Felix Okafor, allegedly at the hands of his lover. The Lagos State Police Command has arrested Joy Kelvin in connection with the fatal stabbing, which occurred in the victim’s home at Jakande Housing Estate, Lekki.

According to Lagos State Police spokesperson Benjamin Hundeyin, the incident took place around 5:32 AM on Monday. Kelvin allegedly stabbed Okafor during their time together overnight. After the attack, Okafor was rushed to the General Hospital in Marina, Lagos, but was pronounced dead upon arrival.

Police were alerted to the situation at approximately 7:20 AM. Detectives from the Ilasan Division promptly responded, securing the crime scene and initiating preliminary investigations. They took photographs and gathered initial evidence.

The victim’s body has been transferred to the General Hospital Morgue in Yaba for preservation and autopsy. Meanwhile, Joy Kelvin has been taken into police custody as the investigation continues.

Authorities are working to notify Okafor’s family members and are conducting a thorough investigation to uncover the full circumstances surrounding this tragic event.
