In recent times, it has become increasingly evident that top Nigerian artists—Ayodeji Balogun (Wizkid), Damini Ogulu (Burna Boy), and David Adeleke (Davido)—are fostering close relationships with some of Africa’s wealthiest individuals. This growing trend raises an intriguing question: what is it about these musicians that captivate the attention of billionaires?

During the week, Burna Boy was seen sharing an evening with Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote. A video captured the warm reception Dangote gave him at a private event, where the singer mingled effortlessly with other guests.

This high-profile connection is not an isolated case. Just last week, billionaire businessman, Femi Otedola hosted a gathering at his residence, attended by industry heavyweights including Burna Boy, Wizkid, and music executive, Cecil Hammond. The event was filled with laughter and animated conversations, showcasing the strong camaraderie between these influential figures.

Another prominent billionaire, the Chairman of United Bank for Africa, Tony Elumelu, is well known for his association with Nigerian artists, particularly Wizkid. The two have been spotted together on multiple occasions, including private gatherings with Elumelu’s family, both in Nigeria and abroad. His annual end-of-the-year party is a testament to this bond, often featuring an impressive lineup of artists. In December last year, Wizkid, Burna Boy and Davido were among the stars who performed at the star-studded event.

For Davido, mingling with high-profile personalities comes naturally, given his affluent background. He frequently socialises with political figures such as Governors Seyi Makinde and Nyesom Wike. In a past interview, Davido revealed that Dangote, a longtime family friend, used to advise him on financial management. “Uncle Aliko is a very different kind of billionaire. Every time I see him, he advises me to save my money,” he shared.

This growing synergy between Nigeria’s biggest music stars and Africa’s elite businessmen reflects the deep connection between wealth, influence, and entertainment—a fusion that continues to shape the industry and open new opportunities for collaboration.
