A firm, the Nigerian Achievers Awards Institute, has recognised eight United Kingdom-based Nigerians for their contributions to their respective sectors.
According to a statement made available to our correspondent by the institute’s founder and president, Afolabi Andu, the awards were held in December 2024 at Hilton Watford, London.
The recipients of the Nigerian British Awards 2024 included Arch Mobolaji Falase and Prof. Oba Nsugbe, who received the Life Achievers and the Inspiring Leadership awards, respectively.
Others who bagged Merit awards were Dela Idowu, Julius Popoola, Tomi Adebayo, Dr Sheun Oke, Kunle Awosusi, and Jacob Adekunle.
In his opening remarks, Andu spoke on the roles Nigerians play across the globe, as he encouraged them “to always raise the bar regardless of varying challenges.”
Commending the contributions of the awardees and the Nigerian community in the UK, Andu said, “It is the celebration of a journey of resilience and a collective spirit as Nigerians in the United Kingdom.”
At the event, the Acting High Commissioner of Nigeria to the United Kingdom, Cyprian Heen, gave the keynote address.
“Since its inception, the institute has grown in strength from pole to pole into a world-renowned body dedicated to licensing and hosting events that recognise and appreciate excellence of Nigerians,” Heen said.
While Falase was recognised for his exceptional contributions as a surveyor and architect, Nsugbe was awarded as an experienced legal practitioner.
Idowu, the founder of the Gift of Living Donation; Popoola, a computer software professional, Adebayo, an expert in structural and civil engineering; Oke, a guru in the financial advisory and coaching industry; Awosusi, a management consultant, and Adekunle; an engineering consultant were recognised for meaningful contributions in their fields.
The Nigerian Achievers Awards Institute, the promoter of the Nigerian British and American awards was established to license and host Nigerian award ceremonies in different parts of the world.
