Barcelona have been working very hard to close a new agreement with Nike with improved terms for months now.

Negotiations between the two parties have been taking place for a long time and the closure of an agreement might finally be in sight.

Barcelona board approve Nike deal

Indeed, as per RAC1, the Barcelona board members, in an extraordinary assembly today, have given their approval for the Nike agreement proposed by the club.

As such, the deal is one step closer to being finalised with the signature from the sporting goods giants the main thing pending.

The relationship between Barcelona and Nike had become very strained at one point and it appeared likely that the partnership would be terminated, with the club even looking for replacements.

However, both sides have mended fences and are set to sign an agreement that will be hugely beneficial for Barça, especially in their current situation with regard to the Financial Fair Play.

Joan Laporta announced to the board members that an agreement has indeed been finalised with Nike and with the approval also received, only the signature formality remains.

The deal is said to bring with it a significant signing bonus for Barcelona along with an improvement on their annual earnings from their kit manufacturers.

Indeed, the report states that the deal will fetch close to €48 million more than their current earnings for Barça between 2024 and 2028, which is when the current agreement expires. Following that, the increase will be around €58-60 million.

It should help the Catalans in their endeavours to register the summer signings Dani Olmo and Pau Victor comfortably in the winter, considering their current registrations are only valid until the end of 2024.
