The Nigerian Meteorological Agency has forecast hazy weather conditions nationwide from Wednesday through Friday.
In its weather outlook released on Tuesday in Abuja, NiMet projected moderate dust haze with horizontal visibility ranging between 2km and 5km throughout the forecast period.
“In the North Central region, moderate dust haze with similar horizontal visibility is anticipated.
“The inland cities of the South are expected to experience cloud patches in a hazy atmosphere throughout the period, while the coastal cities will see early morning mist or fog.
“Later in the day, cloud patches in hazy conditions are also expected in the coastal areas.”
NiMet also forecast slight dust haze in the northern region, accompanied by improved visibility during the forecast period.
NiMet indicated that the northern region is expected to experience moderate dust haze on Friday, with horizontal visibility ranging between 2km and 5km.
“However, localised visibilities of less than 1km are expected in parts of Zamfara, Katsina, Kano, Kebbi, Sokoto, and Kaduna states”
The agency also predicted slight dust haze with good visibility in the North Central region, alongside cloud patches in a hazy atmosphere over the inland cities of the South.
NiMet advised the public to take necessary precautions due to suspended dust particles in the air. It particularly urged individuals with respiratory conditions, such as asthma, to exercise caution in light of the prevailing weather conditions.
Additionally, the agency recommended that airline operators obtain airport-specific weather updates from NiMet to facilitate safe and efficient flight planning.
