Nina Dobrev Tearfully Says She's Feeling 'Survivor's Guilt' After Home Survived The LA Fires

Nina Dobrev is hurting for all the victims of the LA fires.

On Sunday, the Vampire Diaries star took to her Instagram to share a video with fans talking about her experience with the wildfires and how she’s helping out victims now. The actress explained that she and her fiancé Shaun White evacuated their home on January 9th — which also happened to be her 36th birthday. Oof. That’s unfortunate timing.

Thankfully, their home survived, she expressed:

“I don’t know about you but I’ve been feeling survivor’s guilt. Our home, although close to the fires, thankfully made it, but so many others were not so lucky.”

After feeling “overwhelmed” by the disaster, she eventually did a bunch of research to figure out how she could lend a hand. She determined that many of the shelters “have too many clothes” at this point. Now, what victims need most is financial support, so in honor of her birthday, she shared a long list of GoFundMe pages, which highlighted “historically marginalized groups in the Altadena community who have been hit especially hard.” She asked fans to give back, too, saying:

“For my birthday this year, I went down that list and I donated to those families – and it would be my birthday wish … if you could do the same.”

She continued:

“I put myself in the shoes of all these people whose homes burned down to the ground. […] For some of them, the level of tragedy is immeasurable and it’s really hard to comprehend, they’ve lost everything and my heart breaks into a million pieces for them.”

Concluding her heartfelt message, the Love Hard star said:

“Sending my love to all those who need it right now. The journey of healing is a long one and I’m sending so much love to you.”
