The Ogun State Command of the Nigeria Immigration Service has apprehended 25 illegal immigrants working as farm labourers in the Odogbolu Local Government Area of the state.

The migrants were arrested at their hideout following credible intelligence.

It was gathered that the individuals, all male Beninese nationals, were engaged in farm labour without proper documentation.

In a statement on Thursday, the Ogun State Comptroller of the NIS, A.M. Akadri, revealed that an investigation showed the foreigners had entered Nigeria through unauthorised entry points.

He added that, upon interrogation, none of them could present residence cards or any valid travel documents.

The statement read: “The Nigeria Immigration Service arrested 25 illegal immigrants at a commercial farm in the Odogbolu Local Government Area of the state. They were apprehended at their hideout following credible intelligence.

“Their profiling revealed that they are all male Beninese nationals working as labourers on a farm. It was also gathered that all 25 foreigners entered the country through unauthorised entry points, and none could present residence cards or any travel documents when interrogated.

“In response, the Comptroller General of Immigration, Kemi Nanna Nandap, has ordered their immediate repatriation to their country of origin, emphasising the agency’s commitment to enforcing immigration laws and safeguarding national security.”
