NJPW has officially announced two changes to the card for NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 19 on January 4.
New Japan Pro-Wrestling confirmed that the New Japan Ranbo at NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 19 would be contested for an IWGP World Heavyweight Championship opportunity. The match is usually for a shot at the KOPW Championship. However, Great-O-Khan retired the title at the Road to Tokyo Dome event on December 22.
Additionally, NJPW officially announced that El Phantasmo would compete in the NJPW World Television Championship match. Ren Narita had been scheduled to defend the gold against Ryohei Oiwa and Jeff Cobb. Phantasmo’s addition makes the match a four-way. Phantasmo had been absent since October due to receiving treatment for a tumor, but he returned at the NJPW event on December 22.
