Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde has declared that there would be no more demolition of houses in the affected communities in the six Local Government Areas of the state.

The affected communities are spread within six Local Governments namely Ido, Akinyele, Egbeda, Ona-Ara, Lagelu and Oluyole, respectively.

Makinde stated this on Monday while addressing protesters at the Government Secretariat, Agodi in Ibadan, said, “No demolition of houses outside the 150 metres (75m right & left).

“Any house already built outside the 150 metres shall be integrated into the plan.”

The PUNCH reports that the commuters plying Awolowo, Agodi Secretariat and Queen Elizabeth road were subjected to standstill for several minutes on Friday as the protesters observed the Friday Jumat prayers on the road.

The protest entered the third day on Friday in continuation of their pleas to the state government to stop demolishing their houses.

They vowed to not listen to any official until Governor Makinde addressed them by himself.
