Kaduna State residents were going about their daily lives as usual as there was no one interested in #October1Fearless protest.

Despite initial tension, businesses in the metropolis and surrounding areas remained open, and shops in the Sheikh Abubakar Gumi Central Market were operational.

Some residents observed the Independence Day holiday in a low-key manner, while others carried on with their normal activities.

Our correspondent who monitored the situation on Tuesday observed that security personnel, including the police, civil defence, and Department of State Services, were deployed to strategic locations across the state, such as Narayi High Cost, Barnawa Complex, and Stadium Roundabout, as a precautionary measure.

Interestingly, the Coalition of Concerned Citizens of Kaduna State had distanced itself from the planned protests, urging citizens to prioritise constructive engagement over disruption.

The group commended the government’s initiatives, such as establishing skill acquisition centres, and encouraged citizens to participate in local government elections for constructive change.

The #October1Fearless protest was organised by a coalition of civil society groups to address pressing national issues, including economic inequality, social injustice, and political repression.

However, it appeared that the protest did not gain traction in Kaduna State.
