Matchbox: The Movie

According to Deadline, John Cena is attached to star in a movie based on Matchbox toy cars for Mattel Films, Apple Original Films and Skydance. Sam Hargreaves will direct the project, while David Coggeshall and Jonathan Tropper are currently at work on the screenplay.


The Sims

THR reports Loki‘s Kate Herron’s Sims movie has landed at MGM Studios. While details on the plot are currently unavailable, Herron is said to be co-writing the script with Briony Redman.


Ben 10

In conversation with The Direct, director Steve Richards confirmed his live-action Ben 10 movie is no longer moving forward.

I have to admit, I should update my IMDb. No. So, when I was working with Joel Silver, we had the rights to that, and, yeah, that expired…But it should get made, right?


Untitled Jennifer Kent Project

During a recent interview with Screen Rant, Jennifer Kent revealed she’s her next project will be an adaptation of an unspecified book from “a very well-known horror writer” that is not Stephen King.

I can tell you that I’m teaming up with a very well-known horror writer/author to try and make one of his books. And it’s not Stephen King. [Chuckles] So, that’s all I can say at this point. We’re hoping to release information about that in a couple of weeks, we’re in the middle of deal making, but if that goes ahead, I’m super excited about making that next year. I love Stephen King, of course, there’s nothing against him, but it’s not him.

A teenager directs a horror film starring his newly-zombified father in the trailer for All You Need Is Blood, co-starring Mena Suvari.


Friday the 13th

During his recent appearance at Silver Scream Con in Worcester, MA, Sean S. Cunningham stated he believes A24’s troubled Friday the 13th TV series plans to film in Australia before the end of the year.

Last I heard, they’re talking about shooting it in Australia at the end of this year and releasing on Halloween 2025. But I’ve heard versions of that story for so long, I don’t put a lot of credibility into it. There’s just so many things that can go sideways.

TV Line reports Time Bandits has been canceled after one season at Apple TV+.


The Last of Us

During a recent interview with Deadline, Chairman and CEO of HBO and Max, Casey Bloys, suggested the second season of The Last of Us will premiere sometime in the “first half” of 2025.

Well, all I’ll say now, generally first half of the year. I expect it to be in the Emmy window.
