NSCDC arrests two suspected armed robbers in Kano

The Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps has apprehended two suspected armed robbers who specialised in phone snatching along the Eastern Bye-pass, Hotoro by Mohiba Filling Station in Kano State.

The Public Relations Officer of the NSCDC, Ibrahim Abdullahi, confirmed the arrest of the suspects in a statement on Thursday.

“The sustained monitoring and surveillance by the patrol team of the corps in Kano has paid off with the arrest of two suspected armed robbers (phone snatchers) along the Eastern Bye-pass, Hotoro by Mohiba Filling Station, Kano,” Abdullahi said.

According to him, the suspects, Abdullahi Ibrahim, 22 and Faisal Iliyasu, 20, of Tinshama and Challawa/Rangaza Nassarawa, Ungoggo Local Government Areas were picked up by operatives attached to the Area F, Area Command with exhibits such as a locally made gun, a jetknife as well as a cutlass.

“The arrest was made on 30/10/2024 at about 0100hrs (1 am). They’re a syndicate of four with two of their accomplices still at large. Effort is being made to apprehend the fleeing suspects,” he said.

He said an investigation revealed that the suspects were into armed robbery, phone snatching, and drug dealing terrorising residents of the Hadejia Road and Dakata in Kano State.

“Investigation is ongoing and as soon as it is concluded, necessary legal actions will be instituted against them,” he added.
