Nuno Mendes’ future at PSG is the subject of much discussion as his contract extension remains up in the air. The Portuguese left-back, aged 22, has reportedly expressed doubts about the current salary offer proposed by the Parisian club, fueling rumors of a possible transfer, notably to Manchester United.
According to RMC Sport, Mendes would be tempted by a departure, attracted by the possibility of joining his compatriot Ruben Amorim, coach of the Red Devils. However, the sporting and economic crisis that Manchester United is going through makes this scenario unlikely in the short term. “We will not be able to recruit in January if we do not make certain players leave”confided Amorim, highlighting the financial constraints of his club.
PSG facing a dilemma
For its part, PSG still hopes to convince its player to extend and for the moment rejects the idea of leaving this winter. Pierre Ménès, on his blog, discussed Mendes’ performance and management: “Let’s remember that he is coming back from a long injury and that the club has taken care of him. But if he leaves, solutions like Théo Hernandez could be considered. »
If no solution is found by the end of the season, a transfer next summer could become a credible option. In the meantime, PSG is keeping a few months to try to find an agreement with Mendes, who remains an essential part of its workforce.
