The NWA have announced the latest addition to its collection of wrestling territories.
World League Wrestling is the newest promotion to join forces with Billy Corgan‘s National Wrestling Alliance. It will become a developmental brand for the company. The Missouri-based WLW is the fifth company to sign up to join the alliance.
Harley Race founded WLW in 1999. He is a legend in the NWA and a former World Heavyweight Champion. Race founded the promotion in 1999 with an accompanying wrestling school. Its most successful graduate was current NWA Tag Team Champion Trevor Murdoch.
Murdoch spoke about the agreement on the NWA website, revealing WLW would become a developmental system for the promotion.
“When you thought of NWA back in the day, you thought of Harley Race, as a company had a lot of pride and respect for. As the student of Harley Race and representative of him throughout my career, it feels good that I can do this for World League Wrestling and bring these two together.”
“We are going to be a developmental system for the NWA. To find some of the top, young talents that have not been seen. That might not be getting the opportunities they deserve. This is an opportunity, too, for World League Wrestling wrestlers to work with talent from the NWA,” he continues.
“They are going to bring some of the best wrestlers in the world to World League Wrestling If these future stars want to make their mark in this business, they’ll have their opportunities against the best it has to offer.”
With legends like Roddy Piper, Ric Flair, “Macho Man” Randy Savage, Haku all appearing for WLW in the past, it has a rich history and the agreement could be huge.
