WWE NXT star Jakara Jackson opens up about what her lollipop gimmick means to her.
While some performers utilize a sock puppet, others may opt for a purse. For her signature weapon, however, Jakara Jackson has chosen a lollipop. During a recent appearance on Casual Conversations With The Classic, the Meta-Four member explained the story behind her sweet treat, which now has its own protective case.
“When you see a lollipop, I want you to think of me,” Jackson said. “The beauty of it all is it just started out as just a sucker. And for me, it was like something to keep myself busy. But also, for my persona, if I ain’t got nothing nice to say, I’m gonna put my lolly in my mouth and I’m just going to not say it.
“For me, it’s a symbol as well. It’s like you see me, I’m cute, I’m sweet or whatever, but ain’t a damn thing sweet [about me], so it’s like a juicy contradiction. There’s layers to it. I see it as merch, I see it as a symbol. I see it as a weapon.”
Last year, Jackson auctioned off a lollipop of hers used in a WWE NXT live event match against Arianna Grace, with bidding beginning at $1,000. The sale has since closed.
Most recently, Jackson and Meta-Four stablemate Lash Legend faced Zaria and Sol Ruca on NXT, with the latter team emerging victorious.
