During an interview, Martin Odegaard spoke about his arrival at Arsenal and his exchanges with his coach Mikel Arteta.

If today he is one of the leaders ofArsenalof which he is the captain, Martin Odegaard almost never saw his career take off. After his transfer to Real Madrid when he was just 16, the Norwegian international never managed to establish himself in the Spanish capital but ultimately found the best way out by joining the Gunners at winter 2021. A profitable choice since the London club allowed him to evolve to the best of his abilities, thanks in particular to the confidence of a man, Mikel Arteta.

Odegaard praises Arteta

The Spanish technician had in fact himself convinced Odegaard to join North London, a decisive interview in the career of the attacking midfielder, as he explained on the microphone of Players’ Tribune. “I spoke with Mikel Arteta on Zoom and he told me everything about the project. At the time Arsenal weren’t doing well, they were bottom of the table, 15th, but that meeting… Honestly, I defy anyone to come out of a meeting with Arteta and not believe everything he tells you . He’s on the next level.”explained the 25-year-old.

Like his mentor Pep Guardiola, Arteta is a very expressive coach on his bench and sometimes even borders on madness, which Arsenal number 8 seems to appreciate. ” It is difficult to explain. He’s passionate, he’s intense and sometimes, yes, he’s a little crazy… but when he speaks, you understand that whatever he says, it will happen.”he continued.
