Having renewed Oscar Gistau’s contract on Tuesday, FC Barcelona have now officially announced that another young talent, Toni Fernandez, has signed his first professional contract with the club.

“The player Toni Fernández has signed in the presence of the director Soler Ferre and the director of Training Football, José Ramon Alexanco the continuity at the Club in his youth stage,” the statement read.

Fernandez, one of the most highly-rated young talents at Barcelona, turned 16 years old earlier this week and became eligible to sign his first professional deal.

An agreement over a deal for the 16-year-old attacking prodigy was already in place earlier this month and now it has been made official.

A gifted talent from La Masia, Toni Fernandez excelled for Barça’s Juvenil B outfit in the last campaign and is expected to be a part of the Juvenil A setup in the upcoming season under Juliano Belletti.

The 16-year-old is a versatile left-footed forward known for his keen eye for a goal as well as his creative abilities.

Toni Fernandez has been called up to train with the first-team setup by new manager Hansi Flick in pre-season. Now, he has penned his first pro contract with the club, which is understood to be a three-year deal until 2027.
