Coming off a disheartening 3-2 loss against Real Madrid in the league from last weekend, Barcelona’s goal now is to leapfrog Girona in La Liga once again and cement the runners up spot for next season so they can play in the Spanish Super Cup.

The first hurdle in their way is to dodge Valencia tonight at the Olympic Montjuic Stadium for gameweek 33.

Xavi has made one change to the team that lost to Madrid. Joao Cancelo and Jules Kounde have retained their spots despite the underwhelming performance and start as the left and right-back, respectively.

Marc-Andre ter Stegen continues in goal, within a shot of the Zamora trophy, and will be screened by Pau Cubarsi and Ronald Araujo in front of him as central defenders.

With Frenkie de Jong injured, Fermin Lopez has been given the nod to start alongside Ilkay Gundogan, while Pedri is on the bench. Andreas Christensen will be acting as the holding midfielder in this trident.

No changes to the attack. Raphinha will assume responsibility as the left-winger, while Lamine Yamal starts on the right, flanking Robert Lewandowski, who spearheads the team as the centre-forward.
