Following the training injury he suffered in training earlier, this week, FC Barcelona midfield starlet Pablo Torre has undergone surgery successfully, the club have officially confirmed.

Torre suffered a fracture in his hand while in training earlier this week, causing concerns about his fitness ahead of the pre-season preparations, especially with Barcelona not without many options in midfield.

But the 21-year-old’s issue was not very serious and he has undergone surgery today, with the statement from the club confirming that Torre could return to training as early as next week.

“Pablo Torre has successfully undergone a procedure for the fractured fifth metacarpal in his left hand. Dr. Xavi Mir performed the procedure under the supervision of the Club’s medical staff. The player is expected to return to training beginning next week,” the statement read.

As such, Torre’s involvement in the pre-season tour of the USA, where Barcelona will play three friendly matches, is not expected to be under threat.

Torre spent the last season out on loan at Girona and endured a mixed spell, showing his potential but not enough to lock a place down in Michel’s starting XI.

With his future on the line, the youngster will be hoping to recover swiftly and make an impression on Hansi Flick in the pre-season.
