After having announced his departure from the club last week, FC Barcelona have now confirmed that they have reached an agreement with Xavi Hernandez over the termination of his contract.

Given that Xavi still had a year left on his deal with the Catalans, the Blaugrana had to reach a mutual settlement with the club legend before making the appointment of Hansi Flick official.

And, the matter is now closed, with the club confirming the same with a statement that read:

“FC Barcelona and Xavi Hernández Creus have reached an agreement to sever the contract the coach and his staff had with the Club until the end of the 2024/25 season.

“The Club wishes to publicly thank Xavi and the rest of his coaching staff for their commitment, dedication and generosity, and for their help in reaching an agreement to sever the contract.

“Furthermore, we wish him success in the future on both a personal and professional level.”

As has been reported already, Xavi agreed to waive off the salary for the remainder of his contract, but asked the club to pay his staff’s wages.

In addition, the Catalans will also pay the manager €2.5 million as a reimbursement after the manager had paid that sum out of his pocket to get out of his contract at Al Sadd.

This should pave the way for the announcement of Hansi Flick, who is understood to have already signed his contract.
