Having managed to secure the contract renewals of several top talents from the club’s academy in recent weeks, FC Barcelona have now confirmed that they have an agreement in place with Dani Rodriguez over a new deal.

The 18-year-old left-winger’s previous deal ran out on June 30 but an agreement on a new contract was always expected, despite there being interest in his services from clubs like Real Sociedad and Athletic Club.

Now, Barcelona have officially confirmed that Rodriguez has indeed agreed on a new contract renewal for three more years, keeping him at the club until 2027.

“FC Barcelona has reached an agreement with Dani Rodriguez to renew his contract, which will link him to the club for the next three seasons, until 30 June 2027,” the statement from the club read.

“As a result, the left winger will continue to be linked to the club once his time at youth level is over and will join Barça Atlètic.”

The official signing of his new contract, however, is still pending.

Dani Rodriguez arrived at FC Barcelona in the 2020/21 season from Real Sociedad and has risen rapidly through the ranks. Last season, the young winger alternated between Juvenil A and Barça Atletic sides, impressing across the board.

Dani Rodriguez was part of the Spain national team squad that won the UEFA Under-19 European Championships earlier this summer and will now look to carry forward his development at Barcelona.

The 18-year-old will be a part of the Barça Atletic setup for the new season, but could be an option for the first team for the left-wing position if Nico Williams does not arrive.
