Having made a perfect start to life at FC Barcelona, manager Hansi Flick has been voted the La Liga Coach of the Month for August.

The 59-year-old German tactician took over the reins of the Blaugrana club in the summer after Xavi Hernandez’s removal from the managerial post following a disappointing end to the 2023/24 season.

Flick has made a perfect start at Barcelona, winning each of their first four matches in La Liga – starting off with a 2-1 away win at Valencia, which was followed by two more wins by the same scoreline against Athletic Club and Rayo Vallecano.

The cherry on top came just before the international break when Barça dismantled newly-promoted Real Valladolid, hitting them for seven goals in Montjuic, making a huge statement with that win.

Flick was up against Villarreal’s Marcelino Garcia Toral and Luis Garcia Plaza of Deportivo Alaves in the running for the La Liga Coach of the Month honour for August and has beaten them to the prize.

The fact that Flick has had to deal with several issues like injuries to key players and the absence of his marquee signing Dani Olmo for a couple of matches due to registration problems and still led the team to four back-to-back wins makes his start special.

In fact, Barcelona are off to their best start in La Liga since the 2018-19 season and are the best-placed team in Europe’s top-five leagues at the moment.

Up next for the Blaugrana is a challenge against local rivals Girona in the Catalan derby this Sunday at Montilivi.
