Barcelona defensive prodigy Pau Cubarsi was a late addition to the Spain national team squad earlier this week.
Having not been called up initially, the 17-year-old was brought in as a replacement for the injured Pau Torres ahead of his veteran defensive partner Inigo Martinez.
However, Cubarsi himself has been dealing with some issues as he was feeling unwell and did not train with the Barça players on the day he was called up by Spain manager Luis de la Fuente.
No Cubarsi against Denmark
However, now, it has been confirmed that Cubarsi will not be involved with the Spanish national team when they take on Denmark in the UEFA Nations League later tonight.
Indeed, the Spanish Football Federation announced the squad numbers for the players set to be available for selection tonight and the Barcelona starlet is not on the list, along with winger Bryan Zaragoza.
Instead, the duo will be watching the game from the stands.
— Selección Española Masculina de Fútbol (@SEFutbol) November 15, 2024It was always expected that Spain would not take any risk with Cubarsi given his situation when he linked up with the national team camp.
It will be interesting to see if the defender gets any minutes when La Roja lock horns with Switzerland next in Tenerife.
