Official: Barcelona trio in contention to win La Liga awards for February

The month of February has been a brilliant one so far for FC Barcelona as they reclaimed the top spot in the La Liga table after the recent 1-0 win over Rayo Vallecano.

Having begun the month with a victory over Deportivo Alaves in the league, the Catalans secured a thumping 4-1 win over Sevilla before their latest victory over Rayo.

In between all that, the Blaugrana have also progressed in the Copa del Rey, thrashing Valencia to set up a semi-final date with Atletico Madrid.

Naturally, Barcelona’s successful month so far has led some of their players and manager to earn nominations for La Liga awards.

Indeed, Barcelona manager Hansi Flick has been nominated for the La Liga Coach of the Month award for February, having led the team back to the top of the league table.

He will go up against Carlos Corberan of Valencia and Getafe’s Jose Bordalas for the honour.

Meanwhile, star midfielder Pedri, who is back to his best and easily one of the best in his positions in world football, is in the running for the La Liga Player of the Month prize for this month.

The midfield superstar will compete with Real Madrid superstar Kylian Mbappe, Athletic Club’s Oihan Sancet, Ante Budimir of Osasuna and on-loan Real Betis winger Antony.

Last but not least, teenage sensation Lamine Yamal has also earned a nomination for the La Liga U-23 Player of the Month award.

The Golden Boy winner will be up against Uche, Javi Rodriguez, Jesus Rodriguez, and Javi Guerra for the prize.

Given the month that Barcelona have had, it will not be surprising to see them complete the hat-trick of awards for February.
