After Ronald Araujo, Gerard Martin, and Pedri, FC Barcelona have now tied down key midfielder Gavi to a new long-term contract until the summer of 2030.

“FC Barcelona and the player, Pablo Páez Gavira “Gavi”, have reached agreement regarding a new contract, and he is set to remain at the Club until 30 June 2030,” the statement from the club read.

“The Blaugrana midfielder signed his new contract today alongside FC Barcelona Joan Laporta, first vice-president Rafa Yuste, and the Club’s director of football, Anderson Luis de Souza “Deco”.”

The 20-year-old La Masia sensation’s previous deal ran until 2026 and given his importance in the team, the Blaugrana were intent on securing his long-term future at the club, which they have done now.

Since bursting onto the scenes in 2021 under Ronald Koeman, Gavi has made 131 appearances for Barcelona, racking up nine goals and seven assists.

The midfield prodigy, who won the Golden Boy award in 2022, spent almost a year out from November 2023 to October 2024 due to an ACL injury.

After slowly being eased back into action, the youngster has grown in stature under Hansi Flick, becoming a key part of the team again since the turn of the year.

Seen as a future club captain, Gavi has always maintained his wishes to continue at Barcelona and as such has committed to the club until 2030, with a €1 billion release clause.
