FC Barcelona have officially announced that teenage defender Hector Fort has signed a new contract with the club until the summer of 2026.

The 17-year-old right-back enjoyed his breakthrough season in 2023/24, along with fellow academy graduates Lamine Yamal, Pau Cubarsi, and Fermin Lopez.

And following in their footsteps, the teenager has signed a new contract, committing his future to the Catalan outfit until 2026.

“FC Barcelona and the player Héctor Fort have reached an agreement for the extension of his contract, tying him to the Club until 30 June 2026,” the statement from the club read.

Fort signed his new contract today at the club facilities, accompanied by Barcelona president, Joan Laporta, vice president, Rafa Yuste, the director of Youth Football, Joan Soler; and sporting director, Deco.

It was reported earlier today that Fort would be signing his new contract before the end of the day and it has now materialised.

However, multiple reliable sources had suggested that Fort’s renewal would run until the summer of 2029, but the new deal announced by the club is only until 2026.

It may be due to the fact that Fort is still 17 years old and cannot sign a deal that is longer than three years. Once he turns 18 in August, there may be a plan to further extend his contract, much like the situation with Yamal and Cubarsi.
