We have had an official Newcastle United injury update.

This follows the win over AFC Wimbledon that sent United through to the last 16 of the Carabao Cup.

Eddie Howe and his players now looking forward to a clash with Chelsea in four weeks time, for a place in the quarter-finals.

More immediately though, it is Everton away on Saturday in the Premier League.

Eddie Howe now delivering this official Newcastle United injury update following Tuesday’s match:

Nick Pope – Eddie Howe revealing that the number one wasn’t considered for the AFC Wimbledon match after an injury issue picked up on Saturday against Man City. The Head Coach stating ‘We don’t think it’s serious, it is just a bit of swelling on his knee and we are hopeful he will be OK for Saturday.’

Martin Dubravka – The keeper subbed at half-time last night when a dubious challenge from striker Omar Bugiel, saw the AFC Wimbledon striker connect with the NUFC goalkeeper’s knee with a lunge, when he had no chance of getting the ball. Dubravka limped through to the break after lengthy treatment on the pitch, but was then replaced by Vlachodimos for the second-half. Eddie Howe saying about his second choice keeper after the game: ‘I think that he (Dubravka) is OK, but Martin took a nasty bang to his knee, we hope that he is alright. We will see how that settles down. We had a few players who were fatigued at the end. I have no idea if it is going to be a knock or a serious one [for Martin Dubravka]. Martin might have a different view to me, he is the one with the injury, but I don’t mind a centre-forward going in to score. Though that was just with my naked eye and I need to see it again.’

Harvey Barnes – The winger replaced by Bruno for the second-half but Eddie Howe explaining that was the intention all along and not an injury issue. The NUFC team boss stating ‘That was planned before the game and without the injury to Martin we might have done a few more at half-time. The plan was to rotate, keep everybody fresh for Saturday. There were a couple of players played longer than I wanted them to.’

Fabian Schar – Subbed off late on after taking a kick to the ankle, though he did play on for a while and looked alright. Eddie Howe explaining why he took the Swiss defender off: ‘It was a couple of things and hopefully he is ok. It was a bang to his ankle and also a bit of tightness in his body.’

Tino Livramento – He took a knock but played the full match. Eddie Howe seemingly with no concerns on him.

Anthony Gordon – Similar to Tino, the winger took a knock due to a bad challenge on him but was then able to play on to the final whistle. Again, Eddie Howe with apparently no concerns on him.

We already know that Wilson, Lewis Miley, Lascelles and Botman will be missing on Saturday. Although Eddie Howe has said in recent days that the good news is that he expects both Lewis Miley and Callum Wilson to return to full training during this international break after the weekend and become available in the near future.

Alexander Isak has missed these last two games with the broken toe injury, so we wait to see how he is when it comes to Everton on Saturday.

With what Eddie Howe has said after the AFC Wimbledon match, it hopefully sounds more like knocks than injuries, with of those players he spoke of, probably only Martin Dubravka at risk of being unavailable at Goodison Park, hopefully!
