Official Newcastle United injury update on Tuesday morning.

Eddie Howe talking to journalists.

The NUFC Head Coach speaking ahead of this match against Arsenal.

Eddie Howe hoping to see his team make it eleven wins in thirteen games, in all competitions.

This Arsenal match a little different of course, as United lead 2-0 from the first leg. So Newcastle will still progress with a draw, or even a defeat if it is a one goal winning margin.

Pointers as to availability for this Arsenal match and beyond.

Callum Wilson is now back in first team training and Eddie Howe says a chance he could make the bench for this Arsenal match on Wednesday.

Harvey Barnes will hopefully be back available later this month, whilst Lascelles will take longer.

Eddie Howe says Joelinton was wearing a knee brace as a “precaution” following the Fulham match when he was subbed off. The NUFC Head Coach making clear he doesn’t see the Brazilian’s injury as a serious issue, though admits he is a doubt for Wednesday. Howe adding though that Joelinton will be given every chance to prove he is ok for this massive Arsenal match, the United boss seeing him as a big asset.

Eddie Howe on Joelinton:

“Joey had a knee brace on as a precaution.

“I would say he is a doubt but we will give him every chance to be fit.

“Our centre midfield, we have good strength in depth – Sean Longstaff, Lewis Miley and Joe Willock – they all bring something different.”

Miguel Almiron and Lloyd Kelly have of course left now.

So it looks like from an injury/recovery perspective, only Harvey Barnes and Jamaal Lascelles definitely missing from Wednesday’s matchday squad, whilst Callum Wilson and Joelinton are doubts.
