An official Newcastle United injury update on Friday morning.

Eddie Howe talking to journalists.

The NUFC Head Coach speaking ahead of this match in West London

Eddie Howe hoping to see his team build on that brilliant performance and well deserved point against Liverpool.

Official Newcastle United injury update – Availability for the Brentford match (and beyond):

Eddie Howe declaring that after that massive performance on Wednesday against Liverpool, the challenge now is to ‘refuel and regroup’, then try to match those performance levels three days later against Brentford.

Alexander Isak – Eddie Howe says the striker was ‘fatigued’ after his exertions against Liverpool. However, sounds like Isak is ok and set to be available for Brentford.

Sandro Tonali – The Head Coach saying the Italy international was ‘cramping up’ in the final stages on Wednesday, though again, sounds as though fine for Saturday.

Anthony Gordon – Very much the same as Alexander Isak, Eddie Howe saying Gordon also ‘fatigued’ after Liverpool. Set to be ok by the sounds of it.

Kieran Trippier – Missed the Liverpool match due to ‘illness’, Eddie Howe said after the game. The NUFC Head Coach this morning now saying Trippier has improved, so will make a decision on whether he makes the Brentford squad after training today.

So it sounds like Emil Krafth, Jamaal Lascelles and Sven Botman are the only three who will be missing for sure tomorrow.

Eddie Howe did though have a positive update on Sven Botman’s progress:

“He is doing well, the initial moments in training were passive but now he is fully training.

“He is looking good in the 11 v 11s, he is still a few weeks off from playing competitively but he is looking good.

“It has been a big boost to have him training, he is a big guy and a big presence and we missed him.”
