As was widely expected, Barcelona youngster Pau Cubarsi has earned his first-ever call-up to the Spanish national team.
Spain manager Luis de la Fuente announced the squad list for La Roja’s upcoming friendlies against Colombia and Brazil that will take place over the next couple of weeks.
And the biggest surprise name on the list was that of Cubarsi, who has gone from playing for the Under-17 national team to the senior setup straight away.
The Barcelona teenager’s selection comes after a string of impressive performances over the past couple of months, the most recent of which was a Man of the Match display against Napoli on his UEFA Champions League debut.
It will be interesting to see if De la Fuente decides to hand the 17-year-old Cubarsi a debut in the two matches.
As for Lamine, he has been a regular in the Spain setup this season and earns yet another call-up on the back of his recent impressive displays.
Pedri, Gavi, Alejandro Balde, and Ferran Torres are out injured and have not been called up by the Spain boss. There is also no space for Inigo Martinez, Oriol Romeu, and Marcos Alonso.
