Official: Trusty United veteran signs one-year contract after playing integral role in 23/24

After being locked in negotiations with the club since the culmination of the 2023/2024 term, Jonny Evans has today put pen to paper on a one-year contract.

The Manchester United veteran is now tied to Old Trafford until 2025, after which he may opt to pull the curtains on his senior career back where it all began: Carrington.

Indeed, Evans has been a Red since arriving in the youth setup in 2004 before progressing to the first-team just two years later. He then spent nine years at United, winning three Premier League titles, two League Cups, a Champions League and a Club World Cup in his first spell.

It took another nine years until he was able to complete the set of major trophies won with his beloved Red Devils, as Evans’ four FA Cup appearances last term – including a 17-minute cameo in the final – ensured that he claimed a winners’ medal when Erik ten Hag’s men lifted the trophy at Wembley on May 25.

The Northern Ireland international made 30 appearances in all competitions in 2023/2024, which was more than anyone had expected him to make heading into the campaign.
