Nigerian sprinter Favour Ofili will begin her quest for a medal in the women’s 200m at the Paris 2024 Olympics at La Chapelle Arena on Sunday (today), PUNCH Sports Extra reports.
This event follows a controversial administrative error that led to her exclusion from the women’s 100m, a situation that has left the athletes and Nigerian sports lovers bewildered and crestfallen.
The 21-year-old, who will also compete in the women’s 4x100m relay, has been encouraged by Sports Minister John Enoh to remain focused despite the setback.
“I was on the matter until the early hours of today (Friday), with the hope of giving Nigerians something to be happy about,” Enoh stated in a statement released on Friday, promising to address the 100m exclusion issue after the Olympics.
