Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun
Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has commended, Major General Samuel Oluwatobi Adejimi, the Director of Movements at Army Headquarters, Abuja, for his unwavering commitment to national peace and security.
Abiodun described the senior military officer as a symbol of outstanding leadership and selfless service, whose career, spanning over three decades, reflects an unyielding dedication to national defense.
The governor made these remarks on Sunday during a thanksgiving and reception ceremony held in Abeokuta, Ogun State, to celebrate Adejimi’s recent promotion.
Represented by his Chief of Staff, Dr. Oluwatoyin Taiwo, the governor noted that the military chief’s leadership had inspired countless soldiers and safeguarded communities across Nigeria.
Speaking at the event, Abiodun said Adejimi’s elevation was not just a personal achievement, but a testament to the sacrifices of the Nigerian Armed Forces.
“This promotion is a recognition of the courage and commitment displayed by officers who dedicate their lives to ensuring the peace, security, and stability of our nation.
“Major General Adejimi has consistently demonstrated exceptional leadership both on the field and at a strategic level. His integrity, discipline, and dedication have earned him the trust and respect of his colleagues, subordinates, and the Nigerian public,”he said.
The governor also assured that Ogun State would continue to leverage the wealth of experience and strategic insights of the military chief, adding that his contributions had played a crucial role in ensuring the relative peace enjoyed in the state.
“For us in Ogun, we deeply appreciate Major General Adejimi’s commitment to national security, which has significantly contributed to the relative peace and stability we enjoy,” Abiodun said.
In his remarks, the Deputy Governor of Osun State, Prince Kola Adewusi, urged the Federal Government to reconsider the early retirement of senior military officers, emphasizing that many retire not due to age but because of service tenure limitations.
He argued that allowing experienced officers to serve longer would ensure that the huge investment in their training does not go to waste.
The event was graced by several high-profile personalities, including former President Olusegun Obasanjo, former Kwara State Governor Bukola Saraki and his wife, and Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Oludaisi Elemide, among others.
