The House of Representatives member representing Yewa/North/Imeko-Afon Federal Constituency, Gboyega Isiaka, has reiterated his commitment to supporting initiatives that will help revamp the country’s economy and enhance the prosperity of the people.

Isiaka stated that it was against this background that he recently facilitated the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Ogun State Ministry of Agriculture and Lee Group subsidiaries for a rice and cotton cultivation and processing project.

The lawmaker said the pilot scheme of the project kicked off in February on 50,000 hectares of land with the capacity to provide hundreds of jobs for the residents of the state

Isiaka stated this during his address at the constituency empowerment programme in Ayetoro, Yewa North Local Government Area of Ogun State.

The lawmaker has equally lauded President Bola Tinubu for allocating funds to carry out feasibility and technical viability studies in the 2025 budget for the proposed Agro-Processing Free Trade Zone in the constituency.

He explained that the strategic location of the constituency, with vast arable land and proximity to international borders, positioned it perfectly to become an agricultural processing and export powerhouse.

Isiaka, who doubles as the Chairman of the House Committee on National Planning and Economic Development, said the establishment of the FTZ would provide thousands of job opportunities.

He noted that the establishment would bring about economic revolution and equally position the constituency as a significant contributor to food security and foreign exchange earnings.

“It is the beginning of an economic revolution that will create thousands of jobs, establish value chains, attract investments, and position our constituency as a significant contributor to national food security,” he said.

The lawmaker said he would continue to pursue a 15-year development plan for the people of the constituency anchored on education, agriculture development and border development.

He said the plan also includes healthcare development and youth and women empowerment, which aligns with the blueprint of Tinubu’s administration.

Isiaka stated further that the empowerment programme for about 2,100 constituents was part of an effort to boost the human capital development agenda.

He said, “We are particularly proud to announce that over 2,000 constituents will benefit from various intervention packages designed to enhance economic self-reliance and productivity.

“Some of the programmes we are rolling out today include Business Support Grants of N100,000 each for 1,101 entrepreneurs across our constituency, empowering them to expand their businesses and create more jobs.

“Agricultural support in the form of cash, equipment, and inputs for 177 farmers dedicated to enhancing food security in our communities and distribution of fertilizers and other critical farming inputs to at least 300 farmers.”
