The Ogun State Chapter of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations is set to convene its 2024 Annual Colloquium, focusing on Nigeria’s escalating food security challenges.
Themed “Galvanising Public and Private Stakeholders Towards Addressing Food Crisis in Nigeria: Public Relations as Key Driver,” the event aims to foster strategic partnerships between public and private sectors to address the nation’s food crisis.
The colloquium will hold on Thursday at the Cinema Hall, June 12 Cultural Centre, Abeokuta, according to a statement signed by the Ogun NIPR Chairman, Mrs Oluwaseun Boye, and Secretary, Mr Kunle Olayeni.
The statement, made available to journalists on Wednesday, revealed that Governor Dapo Abiodun will attend as the Special Guest of Honour.
Highlighting the significance of the event, the Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Prof. Olusola Kehinde, will deliver the lead paper. The discussions will feature a panel of experts, including agripreneur Mr. Olakunle Osunsanya, public relations specialist Mr. Ayodele Ishola, and chartered accountant Dr. Gbenga Adeoye.
Ogun State’s Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, Hon. Bolu Owotomo, will present the keynote address at the colloquium, which will also see the participation of key stakeholders from both the public and private sectors of Nigeria’s food production value chain.
“The 2024 Annual Colloquium will explore the critical role of public relations in tackling the food crisis in Nigeria, with a focus on fostering public-private partnerships, promoting agricultural development, and enhancing effective communication,” the statement said.
In recognition of his administration’s impactful efforts in boosting agriculture and food security, Governor Abiodun will receive a Distinguished Award during the event.
The organisers will also present an Award of Excellence in Corporate Social Responsibility to FUNAAB, acknowledging its contributions to research, teaching, and extension services in agriculture.
