The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Ogun Command, has earmarked 3,150 personnel to ensure the security and success of the forthcoming local government elections in the state.
The NSCDC Commandant, Mrs Remilekun Ekundayo, said this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Abeokuta on Saturday.
Ekundayo stated that the personnel would work to safeguard voters and prevent any protests during the election.
NAN reports that the NSCDC was established in 1967 and formally recognised by an Act of Parliament in 2003.
The defence corps has numerous responsibilities, including protecting lives and property, maintaining law and order, and safeguarding critical infrastructure, among others.
Ekundayo noted that personnel had been deployed across the 20 local government areas of the state.
She, however, warned those planning to disrupt the polls or incite any violence to desist.
According to the NSCDC chief, the defence corps would not hesitate to take necessary action against such individuals.
She added that the state governor, Dapo Abiodun, had expressed a strong commitment to ensuring the elections are free, fair, and credible.
The Ogun local government elections are scheduled for November 16.
