Dominant against Strasbourg, Tuesday evening at Groupama Stadium, OL failed to score but won the penalty shootout to qualify for the semi-finals of the Coupe de France (0-0, 4 tab to 3).

Pierre Sage’s crazy OL series continues. After its fourth victory in a row in Ligue 1, the Lyon club emerged victorious in the first quarter-final of the Coupe de France scheduled for Tuesday evening against Racing Club de Strasbourg, at Groupama Stadium. After 90 minutes without a goal, the decision was made (directly) during the penalty shootout (0-0, 4 tab to 3).

Les Gones did not manage to find the fault against one of the worst teams in the French championship at the moment, despite a great start to the match, with Saïd Benrahma particularly impactful from his left wing. Little to his advantage, Alexandre Lacazette gave up his place after the hour mark (66th), visibly slightly injured in his muscles. Hard blow for the Lyonnais with a shock against Lens? To be continued.

Lucas Perri as a hero

After a good second half from Patrick Vieira’s men, the shots on goal changed from the start: Lucas Perri, the Brazilian international goalkeeper recruited this winter, repelled Thomas Delaine’s first opponent’s attempt. After four Lyon successes (Maxence Caqueret, Gift Orban, Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Rayan Cherki), Lucas Perrin did not find the target and the Lyon players were able to celebrate qualification in the last four with his audience.

FC Rouen (N1), Petit Poucet, and Valenciennes (L2) face each other on Wednesday evening, before Stade Rennais travels to Geoffroy-Guichard to challenge Le Puy. PSG-Nice, the shock of these quarter-finals, will only be played in two weeks, on March 13. The final four will be played on April 2 and 3 and the final on May 25 in a stadium yet to be determined (the Stade de France is under construction for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games).
