Olympique Lyonnais has formalized an important new signing.
It had been anticipated for more than 24 hours, but we had to wait until the day after the close of this winter transfer window for this transfer to be made official. Olympique Lyonnais has finally signed striker Saïd Benrahma. The Algerian international is on loan until the end of the season, with an option to buy.
“ After obtaining all the documents allowing the validation of the operation, Olympique Lyonnais confirms the arrival on loan of the 28-year-old Algerian international striker, Saïd Benrahma, from West Ham, until June 30 2024“, indicated OL in an official press release.
A strong reinforcement for OL
“This paying loan in the amount of £5.1 million (approximately €6 million) is accompanied by a purchase option of £12.3 million (approximately €14.4 million) and a 10% interest on the added value in the case of a possible future transfer“, specifies the club, before returning to the details on the journey of its new reinforcement.
“Originally from Aïn Témouchent, in Algeria, Saïd Benrahma joined the OGC Nice training center in 2013 and very quickly began his rise in Ligue 1. Professional in 2015, he was then loaned several times to France in successively wearing the colors of Angers, Gazélec Ajaccio and Châteauroux where he scored 12 goals in 34 matches, thus attracting the attention of England. Arriving during the summer of 2018 at Brentford, a resident of the championship, Saïd Benrahma quickly aroused admiration, scoring 30 goals and providing 27 assists in less than 100 appearances. This remarkable career allowed the Algerian international (21 caps) to join West Ham in October 2020, where he played 155 matches in just over 3 seasons, notably winning the Conference League on June 7, 2023 against the Fiorentina (2/1). Olympique Lyonnais is delighted with the arrival of Saïd Benrahma, an experienced player with nearly 350 matches under his belt at the highest level. »
