OL sets a (very) high price for Cherki

In a few weeks, Rayan Cherki’s situation changed completely. While he was pushed out this summer, one year from the end of his contract, the young attacking midfielder (21 years old) has once again become an important OL player since he extended his contract for two seasons, including one optional. Important in the short term because it is rather well inspired on the ground, but also in the medium term since it represents for the Rhone club a solution to replenish desperately empty coffers.

Relegated to Ligue 2 as a precautionary measure by the DNCG, Les Gones will have to sell players at the end of the season to make up their deficit and not plunge. John Textor may say that he is keen on his French international hopes, but he also clarified that“it has a greater value today than this summer”. “He should stay in January, but it will be his choice, as always in football”added the American owner of Olympique Lyonnais. In other words, the Bleuet will not be selected in the event of a good offer.

OL are greedy for Cherki

It remains to be seen where this offer could come from and how much it would amount to. Two questions to which Foot Mercato responds by revealing that Liverpool in England and Bayer Leverkusen in Germany would be interested in the profile of Rayan Cherki. In France, PSG, which had already shown up during the last transfer window, would also always keep an eye on him. But for the capital club as for its other suitors, the rating of the No. 18 from Lyon is no longer the same as two months ago.

If a transfer would have been possible this summer for 15 million euros, the fact that he stayed until 2026 or even 2027 put OL back in a strong position in the negotiations. Always according to Foot Mercatothe Rhone leaders would now have set its price at 30 million euros minimum. An affordable sum for many teams, particularly in the Premier League, but which remains well above its value on the market, the specialist site Transfermarkt valuing it at 20 million euros.
