Former Nigerian international Seyi Olofinjana has faulted the decision of the Nigeria Football Federation (MFF) to offer Super Eagles coach George Finidi a one-year contract.
Recall that Finidi was officially unveiled on Monday and will take over from Jose Peseiro, who left the job after taking the Super Eagles to the final of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

Speaking on Monday Night Football on Supersports, Olofinjana stated that a one-year contract is not enough for Finidi to achieve tangible results.
“I think it’s good we have an ex-international, someone who knows what playing for Nigeria is all about, as the Super Eagles head coach. But does he have a lot of experience at this level? But again, the Guardiola’s of this world started from somewhere.
“But then, can we all trust and support him? The appointment has been made, and there is no going back again. I think for me that trust has already been broken by giving the so-called young, inexperienced coach at this level a one-year contract. What is he going to do in a year?
“”If truly they believe in him what is happening to a four- or five-year contract and say come what may, we trust you, and whatever happens along the way, we’ll trust you.”
