Nigeria’s 2023 AFCON silver medallist and former Enyimba goalkeeper, Ojo Olorunleke, remains positive as he keeps his cards close to his chest following the mutual termination of his contract by Sudanese club, Al Merrikh SC on Thursday, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

The club announced in the early hours of Thursday, barely seven months into the Nigeria goalkeeper’s two-year deal which was signed last July.

“Mars ends goalkeeper Ojo Olorunleke’s contract with a compromise and wishes the player success in his football career,” the club posted via Facebook.

While fans of the club stormed the comment section of the post to send him their wishes, Olorunleke also took time to react to their comments, dropping a hint about his next move.

“E go loud my guy no worry. Dem go know say grace no be anybody mate – meaning it will be loud, they will know the kind of grace I carry,” he replied a fan who preempted his next move.

When asked about the details of the contract termination by our correspondent, the player declined comments.

“Sorry, I don’t want to talk about this now, thanks,” he replied.

However, one of the top fans of the club on Facebook, Samir Yousif, shared what looked like the club’s explanation of the contract situation in Arabic which was automatically translated by the social networking website.

He noted the player fell out with sacked Italian coach Giovanni Solinas and the club’s decline in the Mauritanian league has affected his chance of getting back into the Super Eagles.

“Our club presents full details of the ending of Ojo’s tale with Mars,” he wrote.

“The Nigerian recently complained of the family conditions in Cairo and the need to return to his country to take care of his small family and children.

“The Nigerian goalkeeper complained of many difficulties facing his professional career with Mars because of the lack of training quality and he was not in agreement with the Italian coach Solinas, as he suffered a lot with the Brazilian goalkeeper coach at that time.

“Ojo’s exclusion from the Nigerian national team has caused the player frustration, especially with his decline in the Mauritanian league, which ultimately led to him not wanting to continue his professional career with Mars.”

Before leaving Enyimba for the Sudanese club, Olorunleke established himself as a force to be reckoned with in the NPFL, leading the People’s Elephant to a record ninth title two seasons ago.
