In the French group at the 2022 World Cup a little over a year ago, Karim Benzema (withdrawn, but still among the 26), Hugo Lloris and Raphaël Varane have since retired internationally. While Euro 2024 will take place this summer and they will not be part of the adventure, the three men remain eligible for a call-up for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games which will take place from July 24 to August 10.

Asked about this at a press conference this Monday, the coach of the France team Didier Deschamps responded while explaining that the choice will come down to the main interested parties as well as the Espoirs coach Thierry Henry: “if they want it and Thierry Henry needs them, it’s perfect. The objective is to have the best team, it is Thierry who chooses, they can be candidates like many others.
