A player made his departure from Olympique de Marseille official this Monday.

After the final transfer of Vitinha to Genoa was made official, another player announced his departure from OM on Monday. This is Pape Gueye, at the end of his contract on June 30. The 25-year-old midfielder sent a farewell message to the Marseillais via a video posted on his Instagram account.

“People of Marseille, four years ago I arrived young from Ligue 2 with lots of stars in my eyes, in order to discover Olympique de Marseille. You immediately accepted me and showed me the requirements of wearing the OM jersey. I experienced my first minutes in the French elite alongside you, realized my childhood dream by participating in the Champions League and won the first CAN in the history of Senegalese football. Yes, there were complicated moments. But your unfailing support, particularly at the Orange Vélodrome, will leave me with unforgettable memories. I thank all the players, coaches, technical staff and employees that I was able to meet during my time at the club. And of course you, dear supporters known all over the world, I will certainly miss that feeling on match day when the city stopped living.”confided the Senegalese international.

Gueye: “I am leaving with a heart full of emotions”

And to conclude his message: “Your love for the club and your high standards at each meeting push us players to surpass ourselves and make you unique. You are the one who makes this club beautiful. Thank you again for welcoming me into your home and letting me experience some crazy atmospheres. Today, I leave with a heart full of emotions. I will never forget what I experienced with you. Thank you everyone and see you soon ! »

According to the Spanish press, Pape Gueye has already reached an agreement with Villarreal, where he will be managed by the former OM coach, Marcelino. The former Le Havre resident would have signed up with the Yellow Submarine until June 2028, with an additional year optional.
