While the president of FC Barcelona raised the possibility of seeing Olympique de Marseille join the Super League, Marseille leaders have once again denied this possibility.

Olympique de Marseille can no longer stand the rumors. While the rumors in the corridors about the possible sale of the club are not ready to disappear, another sea serpent has been revived by Joan Laporta, the president of FC Barcelona. It concerns the Super League… and OM.

“The Super League could exist from the coming season, or in 2025-26. Besides Barça and Real Madrid, there are the Italians: Inter, Milan, Naples and Roma. There are also French teams like Olympique de Marseille, and the three Portuguese teams, Sporting, Benfica and Porto, who would like to participate. There are also the Dutch teams (Ajax, Feyenoord and PSV) and the Belgian teams Bruges and Anderlecht. It would be better to have a 16 team competition”confided the Catalan leader to the microphone of RAC1 radio.

Longoria categorical

This is not the first time that OM has been cited as a possible member of the Super League. A few weeks ago, Pablo Longoria clearly ruled out this possibility. “ This is completely false. There is not a single serious conversation on this topic,” assured the president of OM.

Relaunched this Friday by RMC, the Marseille management referred to these previous declarations. “Pablo Longoria already spoke publicly on December 21 and the club’s position has not changed”maintains OM regarding these allegations coming from Spain.
