The Disciplinary Commission of the Professional Football League delivered its verdict on the Derek Cornelius case this Wednesday.

The Canadian defender of OM received a one-match suspension after his sending off against Nice last weekend. A sentence which effectively deprives him of the championship match in Lyon this Sunday.

The Marseille club has nevertheless pleaded for the suspension to be cancelled, considering the red card distributed by Mr Millot to be abusive. Derek Cornelius had received a second yellow card for wasting time on a free kick.

A severe sanction – and extremely rare for an outfield player – was handed down by a referee who, given his attitude, had probably forgotten that he had already warned the Canadian international earlier in the game.
