French international Mattéo Guendouzi has dropped a big clue regarding a possible return to Olympique de Marseille.

The future of Mattéo Guendouzi should be written far from La Canebière. Currently on loan from Olympique de Marseille to Lazio in Rome with a purchase option set at 18 million euros, the 24-year-old French midfielder is preparing to leave the Marseille club permanently. Despite his imminent departure, the French international does not rule out a return to Marseille in the future.

“This is something that could happen in the future”

Questioned by Canal +, Guendouzi declared: “Return to OM one day? That’s a great question. Today I am very happy at Lazio. It’s a big Italian club, we’re in the round of 16 of the Champions League. We work with a very great coach, I am a starter, everything is going well for me and I am fulfilled where I am. But everyone knows the connection I have for OM, its supporters, the city… I fell in love with this club. So obviously, this is something that could happen in the future. We’ll see. I don’t worry. »

Although he is satisfied in Rome, the 2022 world vice-champion retains a special link with OM and is considering a possible return to the Ciel et Blanc. It remains to be seen whether the club’s leaders will be inclined to repatriate him in the future.
